May 2023

I have an upcoming group show at Xpace Cultural Centre, curated by Natalie King. I worked briefly for Xpace when I was still a student at OCAD, and they taught me so much about what the contemporary art world was in such a condensed period of time. I'm so excited to participate! Some of my paintings from my Vancouver Solo show will be part of this exhibition, so if you didn't get the chance to see it in Vancouver, they will be up in Toronto for a period of time.

March 2023

Two new paintings of mine will be showing in Montreal again at Foire Plural, formerly Papier Fair. I will be showing with Afternoon Projects and attending the fair. Not to be conceited, but I think our booth looks really good. Please check it out if you can!

February, 2023

My first group show in Montreal will be opening February 9, 2023 with Galerie Youn. I am showing with a bunch of really great painters, and will be there for the opening. It's my first time working with this gallery, so I'm looking forward to seeing the space and Montreal art scene.

A previous abstract painting of mine will take part of a online and in person event called RBC Innovator's Ball, hosted at the Ontario Science Centre. You can bid on my work to help support the educational programs at the Centre. I have visited the Ontario Science Centre often as a young student in Elementary school, so I'm excited to contribute and attend the event.

I have a group show called Circularity of (un)knowing at Mayten Projects, here in Toronto, ON. I am showing with a very talented group of artists, Claire Heidinger, mihyun maria kim, Par Nair, and Natia Lemay. They are all graduates of OCAD, and have amazing practices that I deeply admire. I have two paintings and an installation based worked in this show. Come check it out if you have the chance.

In partnership with Partial Gallery, Gladstone House has decided to rent out two of my paintings, Double the Luck and Break ya Neck!  Both works have jewelry as their main subject, which I was obsessed with when I was still a student.  Gladstone House is one of the oldest hotels still operating in Toronto, and they have been historically supportive of the arts and other creative practices. Gladstone rents out works from emerging artists and displays them in their lobbies and rooms, picked out by their curator Lee Petrie. The work will be rented for a year. Partial Gallery's blog has a write up that gives more context.

My debut solo exhibition, Object of Affection, opens today in Vancouver, BC at Afternoon Projects. All these works are new and have been created after I first met virtually with Benny back in September, the director and curator of Afternoon Projects. I think this exhibition is a demonstration in my advancements as a painter and my considerations of installation work. I was thinking a lot about kinship and collective identity, particularly with navigating social life, beauty, and religion. It's my first time exhibiting in Vancouver and visiting Vancouver in general. It was a cool experience to work with someone as open and encouraging as Benny, especially for my first ever solo. The show goes on until March 27. Julia Huynh graciously wrote a text for the show. You can look at high def photos and the write up here.

According to Art Toronto and Artsy, I'm one of the most popular artists online from the fair! Woohoo! Very intriguing that my practice has been so well received through online formats. Nevertheless, it's pretty neat.

Art Toronto opened today and will be open until October 31st.  My work After Prom is included in a shared booth presentation between Afternoon Projects and Unit 17. I will be working with Afternoon Projects in the future so please keep an eye out for that. It was great to attend the fair for the first time as a participant, thought difficult to recognize folks with masks on. I have been told that I am the youngest artist participating in the fair this year which is both exciting and nerve-wracking. Check out the fair this weekend if you can, otherwise there will be a virtual viewing online available until December 5, in collaboration with Artsy.

I am participating in my first group show, moveObjects On, at The Plumb in Toronto. The show has a total of 24 artists and is curated by Alison Postma and Emma Green. The Plumb is a fantastic artist run space and I'm grateful to be showing with them for my first group exhibition, along with many artists who I admire. I created a Body Pillow and painting of said Body Pillow for this show, which looks great in the space, after having lived in my bedroom for so long. The show is presenting a lot of interesting ideas and perspectives, especially surrounding consumerism and crafted identity. The show is open from September 3rd - September 29th. The curatorial statement and high res photos can be found here.

I have been selected as the first Homepage for Grant Winner by the Toronto Based Design Firm Juliet Creative. I was awarded by merit of my work After Prom, a piece I created for my graduation show. I am extremely honored to have been selected as the first winner for a grant focused on supporting BIPOC creative students. I would consider the work to be my favorite from my graduation show, so it's extremely fulfilling to be recognized for it. I will be utilizing the $2000 award to upkeep my studio practice and supplies.  If you scroll down to the bottom, you can see my profile for the award here .

My graduation show at OCAD will be taking place online. It is unfortunate that we couldn't have a live showcase, but I'm still proud of the work that I made and the work that my peers have put out. I have five paintings as part of my undergraduate thesis presentation, and I think they nicely point the direction that my practice will follow in regards to self reflection, value, and Asian femininity. You can check out the online show here
